LAHORE – A Japanese delegation visited Lahore Traffic Police headquarters on Monday, where they were briefed on the city’s traffic management initiatives and inspected the driving school at the Abshar Center.
City Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Athar Waheed welcomed the delegation and provided a detailed overview of the Lahore Traffic Police’s efforts to improve road safety and streamline traffic flow.
He highlighted the department’s use of modern technology and innovative practices to ensure efficient traffic management.
Dr. Waheed said the traffic police had successfully removed begging mafias from city roads to prevent disruption at traffic signals. He added that Lahore’s driving schools provide modern training to both men and women and noted that the city hosts Pakistan’s first driving license kiosk at the airport, allowing citizens to obtain licenses before traveling abroad.
The CTO also emphasized that Lahore Traffic Police supervise driving tests for individuals heading to work in the Gulf countries.
He announced plans to launch a state-of-the-art heavy vehicle driving school, which will provide both practical and mechanical training for professional drivers.
During their visit to the Abshar Center, the Japanese delegation observed women receiving driving training and expressed appreciation for the Traffic Police’s initiatives.
They praised the department’s efforts in traffic management, driving license centers, and training programs, and thanked Dr. Waheed for the detailed briefing.
