The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday suspended an additional district & sessions judge (ADSJ) for opening fire at the husband of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Punjab Abida Raja a day earlier in the Red Zone area of Islamabad.
Meanwhile, the Sessions Court of Islamabad has sought a reply from secretariat police for not registering a case on the complaint of the judge who reportedly received injuries after the MPA’s husband allegedly attacked him. In his application to police, judge Jahangir Awan accused MPA’s husband of going violent with him at a filling station in front of the Foreign Office of Pakistan. Both of them were shifted to the Secretariat police station and in the beginning efforts were made to arrange a compromise between the two, however, on Monday the Islamabad High Court took notice of the incident and issued the judge’s suspension order.
According to the notification issued by the competent authority at the IHC in exercise of powers conferred under Rule 6 of the Punjab Civil Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) has been pleased to place Muhammad Jahangir Awan, Additional District & Sessions Judge Islamabad (West) with immediate effect till further orders.
