Islamabad Vehicles M Tags Update Ahead Of New Year

ISLAMABAD – Islamabad’s streets are gearing up for major shake-up. For months, drivers have been hearing about M-Tag system, but now the deadline is finally here.

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration issued stern warning, starting January 1, any vehicle without an M-Tag will be stopped and penalised.

Authorities are urging citizens to rush to M-Tag registration center at Shakarparian Parade Ground immediately, as officials warn that last-minute rushes could lead to chaos, long lines, and serious delays. “We always see a massive surge in visitors just before enforcement,” officials said.

To tackle expected flood of applicants, the administration beefed up Shakarparian facility with extra counters and additional staff to speed up registration and reduce waiting times. But despite these improvements, officials caution that crowds are inevitable if residents wait until the final days.

M-Tag system is part of Islamabad’s effort to control vehicle entry and streamline traffic management across the capital. From January 1 onwards, any vehicle lacking an M-Tag will be barred from designated areas, and violators will face strict penalties.

Authorities are pleading with citizens not to procrastinate. They also remind vehicle owners to bring all necessary documents to avoid hiccups during registration. As the enforcement date looms, the city is gearing up for a crackdown that could affect thousands of drivers.
