Missing Islamabad student’s body found at Trail 5 of Margalla Hills

ISLAMABAD – A student, who went missing during a hiking trip on the Trail five of the Margalla Hills in Islamabad, was found dead in a ditch on Monday.

The body of the student named Muhammad Taaha has been identified by his relatives after it was spotted by the officials of the forest department.

Earlier, the police had initiated a rescue and search operation by registering a case of apparent abduction. A police official told media that the student named Taaha had gone to Margallah Hill along with his friends when he disappeared mysteriously, adding that it is suspected that the student had been abducted.

He said that drone cameras are being utilized in the ongoing search operation in Margalla Hills and adjacent areas. Safe City cameras are also being used to track the movements of the youth.

Police said Taaha went missing after he separated from his friends. They said various individuals, including his friends are being questioned in this regard.

The Margalla Hills National Park is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including birds, reptiles, and mammals. While tigers and lions are not native to this region, there have been occasional sightings reported by hikers and locals.
