Widespread monsoon rains with isolated heavy downpours are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday, with occasional breaks.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moderate moist currents are penetrating upper parts of Pakistan and are likely to strengthen from tonight. A westerly wave is affecting northern and western parts of the country.
Under these conditions, widespread monsoon rains are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday, with occasional breaks. Isolated heavy downpours are also expected during the period.
Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore and Sialkot. Heavy rainfall may cause flash flooding in local streams/nullahs of Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi and Pothohar region during the period.
Heavy rainfall may cause landslides in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir.
Islamabad and Rawalpindi’s daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C on Friday and 35°C and 37°C on Saturday.
Over the past 24 hours, Islamabad, northeast Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received isolated rains.
