Scattered monsoon rains with isolated heavy downpours are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Sunday evening and night and Monday, with occasional breaks.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moderate monsoon currents are penetrating upper and central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave is also affecting upper and western parts of the country and likely to persist until August 24.
Under these weather conditions, scattered monsoon rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy downpours are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of central Punjab, north/northeast Balochistan, upper/southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Sunday evening and night and Monday, with occasional breaks.
Downpour may cause flash flooding in local streams/nullahs of Northeast Balochistan and D. G. Khan. Landsliding is likely in mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Islamabad’s daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C on Monday and between 34°C and 36°C on Tuesday.
Rawalpindi’s daytime temperatures are expected to remain between 31°C and 33°C on Monday and between 32°C and 34°C on Tuesday.
Over the past 24 hours, rains with heavy downpours occurred in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hot and humid weather prevailed elsewhere in the country.
