ISLAMABAD – More widespread rains with scattered heavy falls are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), deep depression over Nagarparkar and adjoining coastal areas of Sindh will likely move west/southwest during next 24 hours.

Due to this weather system, strong monsoon currents penetrate Pakistan, especially southern parts. A westerly wave will likely affect upper parts from tomorrow.

Under these conditions, more monsoon rains are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, most parts of Sindh, northeast/south Balochistan and at scattered places in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Wednesday night and the next two days.

Heavy falls are expected in lower Sindh, northeast/south Balochistan, northeast/central Punjab, Pothohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. Heavy rains may generate flood/inundation in low lying areas of Sindh, Balochistan and southern Punjab. Flash flooding is likely in local nullahs/streams/hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, Dadu, Karachi, Hyderabad, Kalat, Khuzdar, Jaffarabad, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Barkhan, Loralai, Awaran, Panjgur, Washuk, Mastung and Lasbella.

Heavy rains may trigger landslides in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Urban flooding is likely in Multan, Sahiwal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Nowshera, Swabi and Peshawar.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 28-30°C on Thursday and 29-31°C on Friday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 29-31°C on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Sindh, Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northeast Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
