Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan weather: Rains, windstorms likely

ISLAMABAD – Rains and windstorms with isolated heavy falls are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Thursday and Friday with occasional gaps.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will affect the upper part of the country from tomorrow.

Under these conditions, mainly hot and dry weather is likely in the twin cities and most parts of Pakistan on Wednesday night.

On Thursday and Friday, intermittent rains and windstorms are likely in the twin cities, Potohar region, northeast/south Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Isolated heavy rains and hailstorms are also expected during the period.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 37°C and 39°C on Thursday and between 35°C and 37°C on Friday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 34°C and 36°C on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in most parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours. Very hot weather prevailed in the plain areas. However, rains occurred at scattered places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pothohar region, Islamabad, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, northeast Balochistan and Hyderabad.

Punjab: Murree 14, Islamabad (Airport 08), Chakwal, Dera Ghazi Khan 03, Attock 01

Balochistan: Bar Khan 05

 

Gilgit-Baltistan: Chilas, Gupis 02, Astore 01

Sindh: Hyderabad (Airport) 01

Jacobabad, Turbat and Sibbi remained the hottest places in Pakistan, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 47°C. The maximum temperature in Bhakkar, Lasbella, Hyderabad, Nawabshah and Mohenjo-Daro was recorded at 45°C.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 22 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 28 per cent.
