The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) jointly with Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) on Thursday carried out disinfection drive of various hospitals, business centres, residential areas, markets and major roads of the city and sprayed the area to purge it of coronavirus. The roads and markets are being sprayed and washed with chemical using heavy machinery. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat, the special chemical operation aims to control spread of coronavirus. The operation started Thursday morning with spray at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and then continued at the Federal Government Polyclinic Hospital, CDA Hospital. Chemical spray and washing activity were also carried out in the area and surrounding of Super Market F-6, Jinnah Super market F-7 and F 8 Markaz including the district courts. Chemical spray and washing activity has also been carried out in the area of Union Council of Hatheyal and Baharakhu which have earlier been sealed after emergence of new coronavirus cases. Besides, chemical spray in the area of Sabzi Mandi and soundings of Panahgha Sector I-11/4 was also carried out. While, disinfect team and 1122 medical team of MCI carried out the activity in Kachi Abadi (Slums), Sector H-9 and two checkposts were also set up on the either sides. Moreover, Health teams, ICT Administration have also been deployed for remotest rural area of Islamabad to diagnose the suspected Corona virus patients Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar has appreciated the doctors and paramedical staff performing services at this critical time and treating patients facing Coronavirus. He termed them as “heroes of the nation” and asked police officials to salute those health staff performing duties in this critical time. The IGP also appealed the people to cooperate with police, district administration and law enforcers in combating coronavirus and stay at homes as a precautionary measure. The IGP said that police officials should ensure maximum cooperation with health staff as they are on the front-line in fight against Coronavirus. Meanwhile, DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin said that implementation on government directions would be fully ensured. He appealed the citizens to stay home and avoid social interactions and unnecessary movements to defeat this virus.
