ISLAMABAD – Islamabad Police dismissed constable from service after he allegedly refused to report for election duty in Azad Kashmir ahead of the upcoming polls.
According to official confirmation from the police spokesperson Constable Ahmad Ali was assigned to assist in election security duties scheduled for next month in Azad Kashmir. However, authorities claim he repeatedly failed to comply with orders issued by Police Headquarters and ultimately refused to travel for deployment.
The matter escalated to senior command, where Superintendent of Police (SP) Owais Ali Khan called officer’s conduct as “unprofessional” and a clear breach of duty. Officials said his actions reflected negligence and disregard for lawful instructions within the police chain of command.
The situation unfolded during a politically sensitive period in region, where election preparations are underway and tensions are already high. Joint Action Committee has announced a protest call for June 9, further adding to the charged environment in the region.
A detailed departmental order issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Capital Patrols Islamabad, revealed that Constable Ahmad Ali (No. 149), serving in Capital Patrols, was formally charged with misconduct and inefficiency.
The order said all designated personnel were directed to report to Police Lines Headquarters in Islamabad for election deployment duties in AJK. Despite being repeatedly informed and instructed, the constable allegedly failed to appear, refused to proceed for duty, and remained absent without authorization.
Authorities further noted that he persistently disobeyed lawful orders from senior officers, an act described as a serious violation of discipline, obedience, and the police chain of command. Officials emphasized that such conduct undermines the core responsibilities expected of law enforcement personnel.
The report also highlighted violations of the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules and classified the behavior as gross misconduct under the Punjab Police (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 1975, which are applicable to the Islamabad Capital Territory Police.
After reviewing the evidence and departmental record, the competent authority concluded that the charges were fully established. SP Owais Ali Khan subsequently imposed dismissal from service, ending constable’s career in the police force.
