Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan shivered under freezing weather on Wednesday.
Moderate to dense fog prevailed in most parts of Punjab, upper Sindh and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Experts have predicted the prevailing harsh weather conditions to persist across Pakistan on Wednesday night and the next two days.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will likely enter the western and upper parts of the country tomorrow evening/night.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is predicted in most parts of Pakistan on Wednesday night and the next two days. Freezing weather will continue to persist in the hilly areas of the country.
Frost will likely occur in Islamabad, the Potohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during morning hours. Moderate to dense fog will continue to prevail over most of Punjab, upper Sindh and the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 0°C and 02°C on Thursday, between 01°C and 03°C on Friday, and between 02°C and 04°C on Saturday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 03°C and 05°C on Thursday and Friday, and between 04°C and 06°C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, mainly cold and dry weather persisted in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Freezing weather prevailed in hilly areas. Frost occurred in parts of the Potohar region and Kashmir. Moderate to dense fog/smog persisted in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.
Leh and Skardu remained the coldest places in the country, where the temperature dropped 11°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Gupis was recorded at -09°C, in Astore and Gilgit at -08°C, in Bagrote at -07°C, and in Hunza at -06°C.
In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 01°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 32 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 04°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 24 per cent.
