ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast scattered rains for Islamabad and parts of Pakistan during the weekend.
As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country on Saturday.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most areas of the country and partly cloudy in upper parts and Balochistan on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.
Light rain with light snowfall over mountains is expected at isolated places in in Islamabad, Pothohar region, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and coastal areas of Balochistan.
Dense fog/smog is likely to persist in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.
Very cold weather is likely in aforesaid areas due to dense fog.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 02-04 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 03-05 C on Sunday.
Meanwhile, cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.
However, light rain/drizzle occurred in Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad and surroundings.
Dense fog/smog prevailed over plain areas of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.
Skardu remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 08 C below freezing.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 03 C.
Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 38 per cent.
