Islamabad, Pakistan weather update; more rains likely

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rains for Islamabad and parts of Pakistan during the next two days.

According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting the western and upper parts of Pakistan.

It will likely persist in the upper parts of the country during the next few days.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and partly cloudy weather is expected in most areas of the country while cloudy in the upper parts on Monday evening/night, Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, rain with snowfall over mountains is expected in Islamabad, Pothohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir.

Snowfall over the upper parts of the country may affect transportation on January 30-31.

Tourists are advised to be cautious.

Shallow to moderate fog is likely to persist in a few plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 07-09 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 08-10 C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, rainfall occurred in parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Kashmir: Rawalakot 10, Garhidupatta 06, Muzaffarabad (City 05, A/P 02), Kotli 02

Punjab: Murree 04, Islamabad (A/P 01)

Gilgit-Baltistan: Astore 04, Bagrote, Gupis 01

Snowfall (Inches): Kalam 10, Malamjabba 08, Astore and Murree 01

Fog/smog prevailed over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Kalam remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 06 C below freezing.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 03 C.

Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 48 per cent.
