Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa weather; more rains, snowfall predicted

PESHAWAR – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rains with snowfall over mountains for Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the next two days.

According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting the western and upper parts of Pakistan.

It will likely persist in the upper parts of the country during the next few days.

Under these conditions, cold weather is expected in most districts of the province while very cold and cloudy in upper districts on Monday evening/night, Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, rain with snowfall over mountains is likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Abbottabad, Balakot, Mansehra, Haripur, Swabi, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Bajaur, Khyber, Kurram, Waziristan, Kohat and Bannu.

Snowfall may affect transportation on January 30-31.

Tourists are advised to be cautious.

Peshawar’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 08-10 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 07-09 C on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed over most parts of the province during the last 24 hours. However, rains occurred at scattered places in the province.

Kalam remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped 06 C below freezing.

In Peshawar, minimum temperature was recorded at 04 C.

Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 78 per cent.
