Islamabad, Pakistan weather update; more rain, snowfall likely

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rains with isolated hailstorms and snowfall over the hills for Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan on Friday evening/night, Saturday and Sunday.

As per the synoptic situation, a strong westerly wave is affecting most parts of Pakistan which will likely persist in upper parts till Sunday (March 03).

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills are expected at most places in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Islamabad, Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday evening/night. Heavy rainfall and isolated hailstorms are expected at scattered places in Balochistan, lower Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, upper Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the period.

On Saturday and Sunday, rain-wind/thunderstorms with heavy snowfall over the hills are expected at most places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, upper Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Heavy rainfall and isolated hailstorms are expected at scattered places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, upper Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the period.

Islamabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 06-08 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 05-07 C on Sunday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 08-10 C on Saturday and 07-09 C on Sunday.

Meanwhile, rain-wind/thunderstorms with snowfall over hills occurred in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Sindh, Islamabad, Punjab and Kashmir during the last 24 hours.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 05 C below freezing.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 09 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 94 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 11 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 83 per cent.
