ISLAMABAD – More intermittent monsoon rains with few heavy falls and gusty winds are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea penetrate upper/central parts of Pakistan. Strong currents from the Bay of Bengal will likely enter upper parts tonight. A westerly wave will also likely enter upper parts tonight.
Under these conditions, more intermittent monsoon rain with few heavy falls and gusty winds are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Potohar Region, northeast/central Punjab, Kashmir, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan and Sindh on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.
Torrential rains may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, northeast Punjab, Kalat, Khuzdar, Barkhan, Lasbella, Sibbi, Kohlu, Harnai, Nasserabad, Zhob, Bolan and Kashmir and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan.
Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in low lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar from tonight to August 17. Landslides may disrupt traffic in the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 28-30°C on Friday and 29-31°C on Saturday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 28-30°C on Friday and 29-31°C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, monsoon rains occurred in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Potohar Region, northeast/ central Punjab, Kashmir, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and north Balochistan during the last 24 hours.

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 49°C. The maximum temperature in Dalbandin was recorded at 46°C, and Sibbi at 45°C.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 96 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 81 per cent.
