Islamabad, Pakistan weather update; heatwave will continue to prevail

ISLAMABAD – Heatwaves will continue to prevail in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan this week with 04 to 06°C above normal day temperatures.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure prevails in the upper atmosphere, which will likely persist during this week.

Under these conditions, heatwaves will continue to persist in the twin cities and most parts of the country on Thursday and remaining days during this week.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 41-43°C on Thursday and Friday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 40-42°C on Thursday and 41-43°C on Friday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in the twin cities and most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.

Mohenjo-Daro remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 49°C. Maximum temperature in Sibbi and Jacobabad was recorded at 48°C, Larkana, Kot Addu, Khairpur and Dadu 47°C, Turbat, Rohri, Rahim Yar Khan, Noor Pur Thal, Okara, Shaheed Benazirabad, Lasbella, Kasur and Bhakkar 46°C.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 40 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 37 per cent.
