Islamabad, Pakistan weather update; heatwave to stay till May 27

ISLAMABAD – Heatwave will likely persist in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan till May 27.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure prevails in the upper atmosphere, which will likely persist this week.

Under these conditions, heatwave will persist in the twin cities and most parts of the country during this week. Gusty/dust-raising winds are expected in the afternoon. Day temperatures will remain 06 to 08°C above normal in Punjab and Sindh and 04 to 06°C above normal elsewhere in the country.

Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 40-42°C on Friday and 39-41°C on Saturday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 39-41°C on Friday and 40-42°C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in the twin cities and most parts of the country during the last 24 hours.

Mohenjo-Daro, Dadu and Jacobabad remained the hottest places in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 50°C. Maximum temperature in Rohri and Khairpur was recorded at 49°C, Sibbi, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Padidan, Chhor, Mithi and Rahim Yar Khan 48°C, Khanpur, Kot Addu, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan and Hyderabad 47°C.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 32 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 26 per cent.
