Islamabad, Pakistan weather: Smog to persist in plains

Cold and dry weather will likely persist in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan on Monday night and the next two days.

Smog/fog will likely persist in the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather will likely persist in the twin cities and most parts of Pakistan on Monday night and the next two days. Very cold weather will prevail in hilly areas during morning/night hours. Smog with fog in patches during night/morning hours is likely to persist over the plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 01°C to 03°C on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 05°C to 07°C on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in the twin cities and most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Very cold weather prevailed in hilly areas. Smog/fog persisted in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.

Gilgit, Babusar and Leh remained the coldest places in the country, where the temperature dropped 06°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Skardu was recorded at -04°C, in Bagrote and Gupis at -03°C, and in Kalat at -02°C.

In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 02°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 47 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 06°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 31 per cent.
