Islamabad, Pakistan weather: More rains, snowfall over hills likely

ISLAMABAD – More rains with isolated hailstorms are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Tuesday. Snowfall is likely over the hills.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly trough affects Kashmir & adjoining areas, and is moving northeastwards.

Under these conditions, more rain and gusty winds with snowfall over the hills are likely in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Tuesday night. Rains with isolated hailstorms are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, northeastern Ounjab, Potohar region and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Dry weather is expected in other central/southern parts of the country.

On Wednesday, dry weather is likely in most parts of the country. However, cloudy weather with light rain may occur in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Islamabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 12°C and 14°C on Wednesday, between 11°C and 13°C on Thursday, and between 10°C and 12°C on Friday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 14°C and 16°C on Wednesday, between 13°C and 15°C on Thursday, and between 12°C and 14°C on Friday.

Meanwhile, rains with snowfall over the hills occurred in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, upper Punjab, Islamabad, and Gilgit-Baltistan during the last 24 hours. Smog prevailed over a few districts of Punjab.

Leh remained the coldest place in Pakistan, where the mercury dropped 03°C below the freezing point. The minimum temperature in Skardu was recorded at -01°C.

In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 13°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 69 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 15°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 59 per cent.
