RAWALPINDI – A sham institution issuing fake degrees to paramedics comes on the radar of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad conducted crackdown on educational fraud, sealing Vanguard Institute of Medical Sciences for issuing fake degrees to paramedics in the country’s federal capital Islamabad.
A spokesperson for FIA said the action against Vanguard Institute was taken in light of complaints for issuing counterfeit degrees to paramedical staff. The Anti-Corruption Circle of FIA lodged a raid on the sham institution.
FIA official Rana Shahid Habib led the raid and authorities later registered a case against college management and workers associated with the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC).
During the probe, FIA officials came to know that nurses and paramedic staff, who got degrees from Vanguard Institute, are working in several hospitals.
A fake MOU signed with Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) was also revealed as a detailed probe shows the faculty list submitted by the institute was also forged.
FIA booked Mushtaq Soomro, Niyaz Ali, Liaquat Ali, Nadeem Ahmed, Siraj Ahmed, Principal Irshad Akhtar, and various faculty members for running fraudulent operations.
