Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations has urged member states to oppose a resolution drafted by the United States and several Gulf partners, which seeks safe maritime movement through the Strait of Hormuz.
Tehran described the proposal as biased and politically driven. In a post shared on X, the Iranian UN mission said the only workable solution for stability in the Strait of Hormuz is an end to hostilities, removal of maritime restrictions, and the return of normal shipping operations.
The only viable solution in the Strait of Hormuz is clear: a permanent end to the war, the lifting of the maritime blockade, and the restoration of normal passage.

The mission further alleged that the US is attempting to use the resolution to promote its own political interests and justify actions it considers unlawful, rather than genuinely addressing the ongoing crisis.
It urged UN member states to avoid external pressure, base their decision on fairness and reason, and reject the draft resolution instead of endorsing or co-sponsoring it.
