Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has claimed that the United States was seeking negotiations after initially demanding Iran’s “unconditional surrender”.
He stated this during a televised press conference aired by Iranian state television.
Recalling Donald Trump’s position at the outset of the war, the Iranian foreign minister said the US President had publicly called for Iran’s “unconditional surrender.”
“The US President wrote two words on social media at the beginning of the war: ‘Unconditional surrender’,” Araghchi said.
He added that the US position had changed within 20 days, claiming that the same side was subsequently begging negotiations with Iran.
