Kuwait and Bahrain came under fresh air attacks on Thursday as hostilities between Iran and the United States continued amid an ongoing dispute over control of the Strait of Hormuz.
Kuwait’s military said it had intercepted a fresh wave of drone attacks, describing the incident as an act of “Iranian aggression.” Explosions were also heard near the Kuwaiti capital.
Iran, however, said it had targeted radar systems, an air defence system and fuel storage facilities at Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem Air Base. Tehran also claimed to have struck US military facilities at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
Kuwait and Bahrain have been targeted in Iranian attacks several times since fighting between Iran and the United States resumed.
Iran maintains that it is targeting US military positions in the region, while the governments of Kuwait and Bahrain have accused Tehran of attacking civilian infrastructure.
