TEHRAN – Iran has claimed that its forces carried out a drone attack on Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, saying the facility was targeted because of the presence of US military personnel and helicopters.
Iranian state television reported that the Iranian military targeted areas at the base where American troops and helicopters were stationed.
The Iranian military said the drone strike was carried out in response to the reported killing of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps personnel and Iranian civilians on Larak Island.
No immediate details were available about possible casualties or damage resulting from the reported attack, and the claim had not been independently verified.
Al Minhad Air Base is considered an important location for US military activities in the region. American military facilities in the Middle East have previously faced threats and attacks involving Iranian missiles and drones amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington.
