In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and other Hurriyat leaders and organisations extending Eid greetings to the Muslims across the world have asked the Kashmiri people to take care of the families of martyrs and detainees on this auspicious occasion.
The APHC General Secretary, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Eid-ul-Adha was being celebrated in occupied Kashmir, this year, at a time when the anti-Kashmir and communal forces were engaged in vicious attempts to change the Muslim identity and disputed status of the territory. He said India has turned occupied Kashmir into a big jail on the occasion of this holy festival while ban has already been imposed on Eid prayers and mosques and shrines have been locked.
The Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar felicitating the Muslims on the occasion of Eid urged the Kashmiri people to observe the upcoming 5th August as Black Day. It deplored that on 5th August, last year, the Indian government in violation of international law and UN resolutions scrapped Kashmir’s special status and placed it under military siege.
Umar Aadil Dar, Advocate Devender Singh Behl, and Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami in their statements urged the Kashmiris to share the joys of Eid with the victims of Indian state terrorism.
Meanwhile, Indian troops barged into residential houses, assaulted the inmates and ransacked the household goods after an Indian soldier was critically injured in an attack in Drubgam area of Pulwama, yesterday.
On the other hand, the occupation authorities have decided to act tough against the government employees for their affiliation with the ongoing freedom movement that can lead to their dismissal for the service. An order issued by the authorities on Thursday night announced the constitution of a committee to take stock of all such cases that would be referred to it by the police and home departments. The provision would be applicable to all those employees about whom there are cases of having taken part in the anti-India activities directly or indirectly. It will also apply to those who have served detention.
The family members of a missing Ph.D. scholar, Hilal Ahmed, once again held a demonstration at Press Colony in Srinagar, demanding of the authorities to trace their kin. Hilal Ahmed had gone missing in Wangat area of Ganderbal district on June 14, this year.
The authorities extended, today, the detention of Peoples Democratic Party President and former puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, under draconian law Public Safety Act, by three more months.—KMS
