ISLAMABAD – Police have reportedly arrested the prime suspect involved in kidnapping and murder of Islamabad-based Farrukh Afzal, an incident that has left residents of the capital city shocked.
The 31-year-old was kidnapped from his house in Islamabad’s posh area of F-6/1. Reports said three to four armed men forcefully entered his house and abducted him at 12am midnight.
The suspect, identified as Saifullah who is son of a DSP of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, was arrested in a joint action last night.
Kohsar police registered a case on a complaint filed by his father who said he heard a commotion around midnight and witnessed four to five unidentified men forcibly taking his son.
When family members and neighbors attempted to intervene, the suspects allegedly fired shots before fleeing with the victim.
Relatives stated that Farrukh had just arrived home at approximately 12:04 a.m. and was exiting his car when several men attempted to abduct him.
As the investigation was launched, police later said the body of Farrukh Afzal was found in Swabi and shifted to PIMS for post-mortem.
The incident has not only sparked widespread outrage but also raised questions about the motives behind the brutal abduction.
What We Know So Far
According to reports, Farrukh Afzal belonged to the “Haleem Ghar” family and had recently sold a plaza in F-8 for Rs 1.5 billion, leading investigators to initially suspect a kidnapping-for-ransom case.
However, former AIG Operations Farhat Abbas Kazmi revealed a different angle. He stated that the case involved blackmail. Farrukh had allegedly been involved in a past relationship with a woman, and after their separation, he allegedly began threatening her with private photos and videos.

The woman reportedly sought help from a friend, Saifullah, to resolve the matter. Kazmi said the suspect admitted to investigators that Farrukh was kidnapped as a form of retribution for the blackmail. He claimed that during the transfer to Swat, Farrukh resisted, leading to his death.
