The total electricity consumption by the industrial sector during November-March 2020-21 has shown a growth of 15 percent on a year-on-year basis. Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar stated this in a tweet on Tuesday.
He said, “We are seeing even further acceleration in power consumption post March this year.” Earlier on Sunday, Hammad Azhar said that without loadshedding in high-theft areas, the country’s circular debt will continue to rise.
The energy minister said that since 2011, due to non-payments, loadshedding had to be carried out. He said that there are certain feeders where 70-80 percent of the power supply is stolen. —TLTP
