The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that Indian troops are killing innocent Kashmiri youth in fake encounters in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to suppress the Kashmiris’ demand for right to self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said the troops during cordon and search operations and house raids arrest and abduct innocent Kashmiri youth from their homes, streets and roads, and later extra-judicially kill them in fake encounters.

He said in a similar way, the troops martyred several youth in the last month of September in Kashmir valley and Kupwara, Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi districts of Jammu region.

The spokesman said Indian troops and police have subjected over 8,000 innocent Kashmiris to custodial disappearance since January 1989. He said the families of these persons fear that the forces’ personnel have killed their dear ones in so-called encounters and buried them in the unmarked and mass graves discovered across the territory.

The spokesman said killing of Kashmiris in staged encounters is a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and appealed to the world community, including the United Nations, to take cognizance of the Modi regime’s genocidal policy employed in IIOJK and take practical steps for political and amicable settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute.—KMS
