In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Army has admitted that three youth killed by its troops during a cordon and search operation in Shopian were civilians who hailed from Rajouri district of Jammu.
The Indian Army in a statement issued, today, said, a high-level Court of Inquiry set up by it into the July 18 operation at Amshipora in Shopian has concluded, bringing out certain prima facie evidence indicating that during the operation, powers vested under the black law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), were exceeded.
Defence spokesman, Colonel Rajesh Kalia, said in the statement that inquiry had found that the “Do’s and Don’ts of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) as approved by the Supreme Court have been contravened”.—KMS
