The Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti on Monday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian government and its local chapter and said people in occupied Jammu and Kashmir are forced to join the ongoing charade of patriotism on India’s 75th Independence Day.
The PDP Chief took to Twitter and posted a photo of the first Indian Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru stating that everything the Indian flag stood for lies in perils now.
Jawahar Lal Nehru standing tall between two flags, the Indian flag and IIOJK’s flag adopted constitutionally in 1952 and bulldozed in 2019 to fulfill BJP’s divisive agenda. “Now, every foundational value that the Indian flag stands for too lies in perils now,” she wrote referring to BJP’s unilateral abrogation of Article 370 on August 05, 2019.
Mehboob Mufti tweeted a video in which a government employee was seen threatening the shopkeepers to pay 20 rupees for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
“J&K admin shamelessly boasts about Kashmiris hoisting Indian flag. Truth is they were threatened to do so or else face the consequences. Post 75 years of accession, India used all the might at its disposal to force people here to join its charade of pseudo & monetised patriotism,” Mufti wrote.—KMS
