India has reacted angrily to the invitation extended by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to illegally incarcerated Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Masarrat Aalam Butt.

OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha, through a letter, has invited the APHC Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt to attend the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) being held on 22-23 March 2022 in Islamabad.

Irked by the invitation, India’s External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, at a press briefing in Delhi on Thursday reiterated its baseless stance by saying “the Government of India takes very seriously such actions which are aimed directly at subverting our unity and violating our sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

He added that India does not expect the OIC to encourage actors and organisations engaged in militancy and anti-India activities.—INP
