India retain top ICC spot; Babar slips, Shaheen rises

DUBAI – The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday issued the latest men’s white-ball cricket rankings for both One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20 Internationals, with Indian players maintaining their dominance while Pakistani cricketers witnessed slight movements in their positions.

According to the updated list, India continue to lead the ODI team rankings, followed by Australia in second place and England in third. Pakistan remain in seventh position.

In the ODI batters’ rankings, India’s Rohit Sharma retained the top spot, while New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell climbed three places to third. Pakistan’s Babar Azam slipped one place to fifth, whereas India’s Virat Kohli held his sixth position.

Among ODI bowlers, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan maintained his status as the world’s top-ranked bowler. Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi dropped one position to 15th.

In the T20 rankings, Babar Azam made a notable comeback, moving up nine places to reach 30th position. However, Farhan Sahibzada fell out of the top ten, landing in 11th place.

In the T20 bowlers’ category, India’s Varun Chakravarthy claimed the number one position. Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed remained steady at eighth place, while Shaheen Shah Afridi improved by three spots to 13th.

The cricket experts believe Pakistani players still possess the potential to rise in the global rankings, pointing out the need for consistency and strong performances in key matches to reclaim top positions in world cricket.
