Caretaker Federal Minister for Education & Professional Training, Madad Ali Sindhi on Thursday paid a surprise visit to the QAU Islamabad Campus and visited the hostels and other blocks.

While terming the hostels’ condition as deplorable, he drew the attention of the university admin towards the poor hygiene, and absence of basic facilities.

The QAU students while thanking the minister for his visit and for taking the initiative aimed at the betterment of the university highlighted various shortcomings and insufficient facilities such as the non-availability of Internet, reading room etc.

The minister directed provision of all the necessary facilities to the students.

He also ordered an inquiry into the poor academic facilities and directed to revamp hostels. He said that students could not study unless they had the basic facilities.

We were thinking and working towards student exchange programmes with friendly countries but after seeing the conditions of the hostels, it would be better that we first put our house in order before inviting foreign students to study here.

“It is sad that the QAU hostels are in a shambles and such inadequate facilities will certainly limit opportunities for our own students to go abroad in student exchange programmes. He said that such problems needed to be addressed on war footing and ordered the relevant authorities to resolve these issues immediately.

Earlier, Madad Ali Sindhi while taking strict notice of inordinate delay in the development of the sub-campus of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) in Punjab has ordered an immediate inquiry into the matter and sought a report by January 4.The minister gave this order while chairing a high level meeting. Madad said such delays caused irreparable loss to the academic journey of our youth. He also ordered the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the QAU to immediately resolve all the pending issues and further coordinate with the Punjab Government in ensuring speedy construction of the sub-campus.
