LONDON – The dream of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan to become Chancellor of Oxford University remains unfulfilled.

The list of candidates for the election of Oxford University’s Chancellor has been released, and Imran Khan’s name is not included.

The position of Oxford University’s Chancellor is traditional and ceremonial, and several prominent figures are contesting for it. The candidates include former UK Conservative Party Prime Minister Boris Johnson, renowned British architect Sir Norman Foster, and well-known lawyer Barrister Peter Craig.

A day earlier,  PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari said that lobbying firms have been engaged for the campaign to make Imran Khan the Chancellor of Oxford University.

Zulfi Bukhari added that two or three lobbying firms have been hired for Imran Khan’s media and Chancellor campaign.

He also mentioned that no one should be upset over hiring a lobbying firm, as he did not take any money from anyone for this, and European experts would be engaged once the campaign begins in Europe.

On the issue of Oxford University’s Chancellorship, the renowned legal firm Matrix Chambers expressed its opinion, stating that Imran Khan is ineligible for the Chancellorship under Oxford University regulations.

Senior lawyer Hugh Southey explained that the PTI founder is ineligible for this position due to his criminal conviction.
