ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, former President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi and other party leaders were booked over charges violence during Nov 24.
The sources said that the first FIR was registered at Taxila police station under anti-terrorism sections.
The case named opposition leader Omar Ayub, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Aleema Khan, Azam Swati, Taimur Masood, Shehryar Riaz, and over 300 local leaders and workers.
According to the FIR, the protesters damaged government vehicles and motorcycles, abducted a police driver, and subjected him to torture before releasing him. It further alleges that the PTI chairman devised the plan for the Islamabad march while in Adiala Jail.
Case number 2594 includes charges of interference in official duties, violation of Section 144, and other related offenses. Protesters are also accused of damaging public and private property, blocking roads, and gathering unlawful assemblies.
The PTI caravans, responding to Imran Khan’s call for protest, departed for Islamabad on November 24 under the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The clashes between protesters and police took place as they entered Punjab from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with PTI workers pelting stones at law enforcement. The police responded with tear gas to disperse the crowd.
