A high level meeting was held at Karachi Police Office under the chairmanship of Acting Additional IG Arif Hanif. Members of Karachi Ulema Committee Qari Muhammad Usman, Maulana Hakeem Muhammad Mazhar, Mufti Anas Adil, Maulana Iqbalullah, Mufti Noman Naeem, Qari Muhammad Iqbal, Maulana Muhammad Tayyab, Maulana Muhammad Ibrahim Sukkur Gahi, Maulana Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Maulana Farhan Naeem, Maulana Saifullah Rabbani, Maulana Ibrahim Mazhar and other religious scholars participated in the meeting. A briefing was given on the police investigation so far regarding the martyrdom of Maulana Dr Adil Khan. DIG Counter Terrorism Department Omar Shahid briefed the delegation on the issue of martyrdom of Maulana Adil Khan and the progress made in the assassination attempt on Mufti Yameen Abdullah. The delegation demanded that Dr. Adil Khan be martyred. The killers of the Taliban should be arrested immediately and the real facts should be made known to the nation. The real conspiracy should be exposed through the culprit caught in the assassination of Mufti Yamin Abdullah and the city and the country should be saved from the flames of sectarianism. He assured all possible cooperation from Karachi police in maintaining religious harmony and law and order in the city and said that peace in Karachi was tantamount to peace in the country and unrest in Karachi was tantamount to unrest in the whole country. The meeting was also briefed on the security of religious seminaries and eminent scholars in the city. The meeting was attended by DIG Admin Amin Yousafzai, DIG South Javed Akbar Riaz, SP Investigation Central Murtaza Tabassum and SP Abdullah Memon. Of Acting Additional IG Arif Hanif said that Karachi Police was taking all possible steps for the protection of the people despite limited resources. He said that Karachi police has made great sacrifices for restoration of peace in the city. Qari Muhammad Usman thanked all the DIGs including the Additional IG and said that the progress made regarding the case of Dr Adil Khan Shaheed and the assassination attempt on Mufti Yameen Abdullah has been expedited and the facts will come to light as soon as possible. Bring to the fore so that the anxiety and uneasiness found in the nation can be removed. He said that immediate steps should be taken to restore the withdrawn security of religious schools and religious scholars on a permanent basis. Acting Additional IG Arif Hanif assured the delegation that in view of the current situation, Recommendations will be communicated to all concerned agencies soon
