IMF Mission, Pakistan economic team to hold final round of talks today

ISLAMABAD – The final round of negotiations between the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission and Pakistan economic team would take place today.

The sources close to the development said that the issues regarding officers’ asset declaration and negotiations with provinces are due today. The pensions and wages, climate financing, monetary policy.and future budget would also be discussed.

They said that the IMF delegation would negotiate with provinces on fiscal operations, data, commodity scheme while the economic team would discuss expenditures on health, education and other revenue initiatives.

They said that the discussions would also be held on forex market, budget process changes, institutional reforms, real estate, officers’ asset declaration, and anti-money laundering.

“If negotiations with the IMF delegation are not completed today, brief discussions will take place on Tuesday; the delegation has expressed dissatisfaction with the progress on external financing road map,” said the sources.

They said that the mission also expressed dissatisfaction with the slow process of institutional reforms but remains confident in negotiations with other measures so far.
