Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has taken notice of the incidents of kite flying and has sought reports from RPOs of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Sheikhupura and CCPO Lahore.
IG Punjab has directed RPOs and DPOs to take action against illegal activities of Kite Flying Association and expedite action against organizers and violators violating the name of Basant.
The Punjab police spokesman said that kite flying is an illegal activity and violators are being arrested without any discrimination.
He added that dealers and suspects selling kites and strings online will be arrested.
Punjab police spokesman said that a reply would be sought from the supervisory officer from the concerned police station where kite flying incident took place.
The spokesman said that special teams are also being formed for night time operation and a campaign against kite flying will be launched in collaboration with district administration, civil society and parents.
He said that citizens should call helpline 15 and report about cases of kite flying and parents should keep an eye on illegal activities of their children.
He spokesman said that 661 cases have been registered in all the districts of the province during the last three days and 747 accused have been arrested and kites and strings have been recovered.
