Inspector General Police Islamabad, Muhammad Ahsan Younas has approved awarding cash prizes and appreciation certificates to the police personnel for making best possible security arrangements during the visit of Australian cricket team to twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
According to details, IGP Ahsan Younas has given approval of cash prizes and appreciation certificates for more than 4500 cops of Eagle Squad, policemen deployed in all police stations of the federal capital, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Special Branch, Security Division, Islam Traffic Police (ITP) and Safe City.
Earlier, recommendations were sought from all divisions, units, police stations and sub-offices in this connection and the decision was taken in the light of the recommendations.
All cops of the Eagle Squad engaged in serving the citizens round the clock and playing key role in controlling street crimes in the federal capital have been nominated for the awards.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Police Chief has also directed to award the policemen deployed in different police stations of the federal capital who have been neglected in the past.
More than 1300 cops of Security Division and Special Branch deployed for ensuring foolproof security have also been nominated. On the other hand, cops deployed in the centres established to provide all facilities to citizens under single roof would also be awarded.
Meantime, over 500 cops of CTD, Saif City citizens will be also be awarded cash prizes and appreciation certificates while annual prizes have already been issued to 802 ITP personnel for smooth traffic flow. IGP Ahsan Younas said that the cash prizes were being awarded to encourage the police personnel and to further improve their performance.
