IG Sindh GhulamNabiMemon met with a 15-member delegation from the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) led by Deputy Patron-in-Chief ZubairChhaya. The delegation also toured the Command and Control Center at the Central Police Office. During the meeting, attended by DIGs from Establishment, Headquarters Sindh, Traffic Karachi, and East Zone, IG Memon briefed the participants on crime prevention and law and order statistics.
He highlighted various measures such as the installation of cameras at key locations, hiring of prosecutors, establishment of special courts, police monitoring systems at entry and exit points, merging and enhancing police stations, and proposed actions against drug trafficking. IG Memon emphasized the longstanding relationship between Sindh Police and KATI, stating that the police face challenges such as terrorism and street crime. He identified unemployment as a major factor behind crimes and noted the community’s response to the police’s request by installing approximately 40,000 cameras for neighborhood security. He revealed that out of 3,000 scrap dealers in Karachi, 354 were found involved in dealing with stolen goods, leading to police action and a significant reduction in crime rates.
The KATI delegation assured full support for the proposed drug rehabilitation centers, with industrialists expressing their commitment to work with the police to make the city crime-free. Deputy Patron-in-Chief ZubairChhaya affirmed the industrialists’ resolve to collaborate with Sindh Police for a safer city and acknowledged the positive impact of the police’s measures on reducing crime. The KATI president also confirmed that they had no security complaints regarding Sindh Police.
