Inspector General of Sindh Police, Ghulam NabiMemon, presided over a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office to discuss reforms and capacity building within the Security and Emergency Services Division of Sindh Police. Senior police officials, including the Additional IG Karachi, DIGs of Establishment, Training, and Security and Emergency Services Division, as well as commandants from SSU and Razzaqabad Police Training College, participated in the session.

One of the key decisions made during the meeting was the establishment of the Security and Emergency Training Institute in Karachi’s Malir area, specifically in Chowkandi. The meeting covered all relevant details, and the institute will offer specialized courses, including counter-terrorism, intelligence, bomb disposal, and rescue services.

The DIG Security and Emergency Services Division briefed the attendees on the importance and objectives of the institute. He emphasized the need for the facility to enhance specialized training for forces like SSU and others. The procurement of essential equipment, weapons, and modern training tools is currently underway to ensure that the institute is fully equipped.

The meeting also explored collaborations with national and international training experts to further improve the quality of training provided.

IG Sindh highlighted the importance of modern, high-quality training for all branches of the police force in line with present-day challenges. He also stressed the need to expand training centers as the police force grows. According to him, Sindh Police’s training institutions have long been a source of pride, offering training to law enforcement personnel at the national level.

The IG reiterated the urgency of establishing this specialized institute to address emerging threats of terrorism and evolving criminal tactics.
