Dave Cameron, the former president of the Cricket West Indies is “available” for the top ICC post. According to the sources close to him, he is seeking support from the two boards for his nomination.
There are, however, few other names doing round for the job. Cricket Australia’s former chairman David Peever, England’s Colin Graves and New Zealand’s Greg Barclay may also show their interest.
India’s Sourav Ganguly is “acceptable” to all but it has not yet been decided by the BCCI president to relinquish the present job to take over the ICC post.
Singapore’s Imran Khawaja, who has been the acting chairman following Shashank Manojhar’s resignation on 31st March may also throw his hat in the ring.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has begun the process for the election of the chairman, it is learnt here.
According to the sources in Dubai, the process is likely to be concluded by the end of early December this year.
The nomination process is being overseen by the Independent Chairman of the ICC Audit committee and all the Board Members have been asked to send their nominations by October 18.
Any nominee will then need to be seconded by another Board Director to become a candidate in the election.
As outlined in the ICC Constitution, to be eligible, potential candidates must be either a current or former ICC Board Member director.
