ICC Slaps Fine on Pakistan for Slow Over-Rate in Tri-Series Final

Pakistan have been fined five per cent of their players’ match fees for a slow over-rate during their three-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the ODI tri-series final in Lahore on Saturday.

According to an International Cricket Council (ICC) statement issued on Monday, Pakistan were found one over short after time allowances were considered by match referee Jeff Crowe.

Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi pleaded guilty and accepted the penalty, imposed under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which stipulates a five per cent fine for each over a team fails to complete within the allotted time.

Pakistan clinched the title by successfully chasing Sri Lanka’s 326-run target, finishing at 326-7 with nine balls to spare. Fakhar Zaman led the chase with a 127-run knock off 99 balls, registering his 12th ODI century.
