The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) celebrated the 10th National Finance Olympiad (NFO) with grandeur, marking a decade of fostering financial brilliance and leadership among Pakistan’s finance professionals. The competition saw 52 teams from diverse sectors vying for the prestigious title of “National Finance Champion 2024.” After intense rounds of assessments, the KnS School of Business Studies emerged victorious, with K-Electric and KPMG claiming 1st and 2nd Runners-up positions, respectively.
The Olympiad, organized by ICAP’s Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) Committee, introduced innovative challenges, including simulation-based assessments, case studies, and interactive sessions like the “Spin the Wheel” activity.
The Grand Finale tested teams on strategic topics such as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Corporate Social Responsibility, geopolitical conflicts, and business sustainability. ICAP President Farrukh Rehman FCA commended the participants, emphasizing the critical role of finance professionals in shaping Pakistan’s socioeconomic future.
He noted that platforms like NFO empower professionals with strategic thinking and leadership skills, ensuring their contributions to the nation’s global progress. The esteemed jury, including industry leaders like Gulzar Khoja FCA (CFO, PSO) and Khalid Zaman Khan (Group Head of HR, Meezan Bank), oversaw the competition.
The event also featured a panel discussion with prominent figures such as Shakaib Arif FCA, CEO of Naymat Collateral Management Company, and Ali Tariq, CEO of Unilever Sri Lanka. Samiullah Siddiqui FCA, Chairman PAIB Committee, lauded the collaborative efforts of the organizing team, partners like Unilever Pakistan and KSBL, and technical supporters A.F. Fergusons and EY Ford Rhodes for making NFO 2024 a resounding success.
