VIENNA/TEHRAN – The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Friday confirmed that Israel targeted Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility in a recent strike.

The global nuclear watchdog said it is closely monitoring the situation in Iran and remains in contact with Iranian authorities regarding the Israeli attack on the Natanz site. The agency stated that there has been no observed increase in radiation levels at the facility and that no damage has been reported to nuclear installations as a result of the strike.

The IAEA further noted that Iranian officials have confirmed the Bushehr nuclear power plant was not targeted, and no Israeli attacks were carried out on other key nuclear sites, including Fordow and Isfahan.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media also reported that there has been no nuclear contamination following the attack on Natanz.

The Israeli attacks caused further escalation, as Israel formally launched military action against Iran earlier today.

Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeted both nuclear and military sites, resulting in the deaths of several high-ranking officials, including Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Chief Major General Hossein Salami, Armed Forces Chief General Mohammad Bagheri, and six senior nuclear scientists.
