The Ahl-e-Sunnat parties staged a massive Tahaffuz-e-Namoose Risalat and AzmateSahabawaAhlebayt march under the leadership of Grand Mufti of Pakistan Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman here on Saturday. Large number of Karachiites participated and there were devotees of Islam as far as the eye could see.
According to details, the march started from Mazar-e-Quaid under the leadership of Grand Mufti of Pakistan Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman along with large number of attendees. The rally walked on MA Jinnah Road to the Tibet Center. Enraged participants raised slogans against unscrupulous elements and voiced their sentiments in favour of NamooseRisalat.
Besides Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Allama Shah Abdul HaqQadri, AllamaKokabNooraniOkaarvi, Haji HanifTayyab, SarwatEjazQadri, Bilal SaleemQadri, AllamaLiaquatAzhari, Mufti Jan Naeemi, Mufti Abid Mubarak, Allama Syed MuzaffarHussain Shah, Muhammad Ali Shah, AllamaRaziHussaini, Mufti Rafi Rehman, RehanAmjadi, renowned religious and social figure Haji RafiqPardesi, Rafiq Suleiman from the business community and other religious scholars were present in large numbers.
Addressing the devotees, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman said that the march was not against any particular sect but against an act to hurt religious sentiments of the majority of the country, terming it the biggest terrorism. Pointing at the crowd, he said, “These are all peaceful citizens, if they were tried to be cornered, then they too can turn to negative activities.”
He said that Sahaba and AhleBayt are most respectable for us, the Prime Minister took notice of the matter but no action was taken. Mufti Muneeb appealed to the President of Pakistan, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff to take serious and effective notice of the issue and take action against the elements that were undermining religious harmony in the country.
He said that the Sindh government should also take action and warned that if the Sindh government continued to support such elements then the faithful people of the city would not vote for those arrogant people.
He said that he wanted to question the authorities that this was a gathering of millions. Aren’t they Pakistanis? Don’t they have religious rights?
He warned that he was only sending a message of peace today, if no action was taken then he would decide on future course of action.
Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman also criticized the media, saying it was not playing its impartial role. “The news of Cynthia Ritchi kept coming in the headlines for weeks and months. The media keeps on showing Indian films and songs to the people but the Ahl-e-Sunnat majority was suppressed, he argued.
