ISRAEL has, time and again, shown blatant disregard for international law and humanitarian norms.
Its military campaign in Gaza, now extending to the declared intention of “taking control of all the territory of the Strip,” as stated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a recent video posted on Telegram, represents an alarming escalation.
This statement does not only reflect aggression—it deepens the crisis and undermines any pretence of respect for the rights of the Palestinian people.
It is an outright proclamation of continued occupation and domination.
The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has rightly condemned Israel’s actions as “in defiance of international law and tantamount to ethnic cleansing.
” The systematic destruction of neighbourhoods, forced displacement and denial of humanitarian aid to a besieged population of over two million people are not military tactics—they are crimes against humanity.
The scale of atrocities is staggering.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, more than 53,475 people have been killed and 121,398 injured.
Thousands more lie buried under rubble, their deaths uncounted.
Gaza has been reduced to rubble under a total Israeli blockade since March 2.
The international community’s response, dominated by hollow condemnations and empty statements, has proven utterly insufficient.
While Britain, France and Canada have spoken out against Israel’s egregious actions and the blocking of aid, these words alone have not saved lives.
Verbal condemnation is not enough—not when children are dying of hunger, hospitals are bombed and civilians are massacred.
Now is the time for action—decisive, bold and unapologetic.
Influential global leaders, especially those who claim to champion peace, must rise to the occasion.
US President Donald Trump needs to lead the peace efforts.
Equally, the OIC must do more than issue statements of solidarity.
Muslim nations with diplomatic or trade relations with Israel must suspend these ties immediately.
This is not merely a political strategy; it is a moral imperative.
By maintaining normal relations amid such bloodshed, these governments send a dangerous message of indifference and complicity.
The Palestinian people have never accepted and will never accept Israel’s occupation of their homeland.
Their right to self-determination, dignity and peace is not negotiable.
Palestine belongs to its people, not to an occupying force that believes in domination through violence.
The time for silence and neutrality has passed.
The world must act—not tomorrow, not next week, but now, because every day of inaction is another day of horror for the people of Gaza.
