LAHORE –  The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday granted time for preparation to famous playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar in honey trap case.

A LHC division bench headed Justice Shahbaz Raza passed the order while hearing the bail plea of Amna Urooj and other accused in the case.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar personally appeared before the court.

During the proceedings, the accused’s lawyer stated that the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore had rejected the post-arrest bail applications of Amina Urooj and Yasir Ali, and that the accused had been blackmailed by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar to fulfill an illegal demand.

Amna Urooj, he said, refused after which the local police in connivance with Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar registered the case against her. The FIR, he said, was registered four days later which caused major damage to the prosecution’s case.

The defence counsel argued that Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and the police had illegally detained Amna Urooj. He submitted that Amna was handed over the Model Town police after a call by her mother to the emergency services.

The lawyer argued that there had been no evidence against Amna Urooj, and the prosecution also failed to come up to substantiate the case against her.

The lawyer asked the court to accept the plea of Amna Urooj seeking bail in the case. However, the court granted more time to Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and put off further hearing of the case until October 22.
