Holding peaceful, transparent elections top priority: CM KP

Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan has termed the peaceful holding of the upcoming General elections in the province as the top most priority of his government, and said that special attention would be paid to improve overall law and order situation in the province with the aim to ensure the holding of the general elections in a peaceful, transparent and fair manner.

Talking to the caretaker cabinet members Azam Khan said that the caretaker provincial government was fully aware of its responsibilities for holding the general elections in a peaceful and transparent manner adding that the caretaker provincial government would leave no stone unturned in the discharge of its responsibilities in an admirable manner.

Chief Minister said that the provincial caretaker setup would extend all the required support to the Election Commission of Pakistan in this regard. Muhammad Azam Khan maintained that his government would also focus on good governance to ensure better and effective utilization of resources in hand and curtail unnecessary expenditures in the best public interest.

The Chief Minister expressed his resolve to address the financial issues faced by the province and said that all possible efforts would be made to this effect adding that all the financial issues of the province related to the federal government would be taken up at federal level for their timely redressal. He said that all out efforts would be made to get the due shares of the province Including the newly merged districts under the federal transfers, and expressed the hope that the federal government especially the Prime Minister would cooperate in this regard. The Chief Minister stressed upon the caretaker ministers to work hard with the aim to discharge their responsibilities in an admirable manner.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister while taking notice of difficulties faced by the general public in getting petrol from petrol pumps in some of the cities, has directed the Chief Secretary to get reports from all the Deputy Commissioners in this regard. There were complaints that some of the petrol pumps suspended the supply of petrol to the consumers as news circulated regarding the possible increase in petroleum prices. The Chief Minister directed the concerned high ups for necessary steps to ensure the uninterrupted supply of petrol to the consumers across the province. He also sought report from the concerned quarters about the availability of wheat flour across the province.
